The Sea Vessel is Lost Ark's take on the traditional San Diego fish. First made in 2017, it keeps the classic outline with a few small adjustments: a subtle single concave to vee for a clean release off the tail, a slight bump behind the fins to ease you out of turns, and extra foam from nose to tail for float and easy wave catching. It's flat, fast and cruisy. This one has a four-color swirl bottom with a cutlap, a black and white swirl deck inlay and a maroon pinline.

WHY WE PICKED THIS BOARD

We picked the Sea Vessel because every quiver needs a proper fish, and this is a great one. It's fast and cruisy in the soft, everyday surf we get a lot of around here, the extra foam makes it easy to catch waves, and the glass job is a showpiece. It's also shaped by a local North County shaper, which we love.

Sizing reference from the shaper: he rides a 5'2 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/8 at 6'1 and 155 lbs. This one is a touch wider and thicker.

Noah Thorton is the local charger and expert shaper behind Lost Ark Surfboards. He surfs what he shapes, and models like the Sea Vessel come out of years of tinkering and testing in the water before they ever hit the rack.
