Fairly sharp rails give it bite and a responsive feel when you put it on edge, so it rewards real turns without being fussy about conditions. This one is a salmon tint with a triple stringer.

WHY WE PICKED THIS BOARD

We picked the Cheat Code because everyone needs a shortboard they don't have to think about. It's the one you grab on the way out the door when you're not sure what the waves are doing. Standard thruster, fairly sharp rails, and it works in pretty much everything. It's also shaped right here in Leucadia.

ABOUT THE SHAPER

Lucas Plese is a Leucadia-based shaper who learned the craft of both shaping and glassing under the tutelage of renowned board builder Wayne Rich (among others). Living and surfing right here in North County, his boards are dialed specifically for the kind of everyday waves we see around town. His signature Sushi Roll has quickly become a shop favorite for its balance of speed, flow, and versatility across a wide range of conditions. Lucas is also known for pushing creative glass work, often experimenting with unique tints, patterns, and finishes that make each board feel one-of-a-kind.
